As I have mentioned in previous posts, my first Chemo treatment will be on Tuesday, May 8th, one week from today. People ask me if I am ready for it and I tell them, “ready as I’ll ever be”. My experience has been, you can read almost every book and news article about Chemo but nothing will ever prepare you mentally for it except a positive attitude and outlook on the future. I am not excited to start Chemo and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared but the thing that gets me through each day, counting down towards May 8th, is knowing that I will be Cancer free and able to share the rest of my life with the people I love, my family and friends! I keep telling myself, a few months of hell will give me the opportunity to create a life time of memories!
The reason I gave this post the title I did is because events like this give me something to look forward to for the near future. Even though on May 12th I will be 4 days in to my first treatment and I have been told that I probably won’t be feeling good, I am planning and looking forward to attending this event. As it is an excellent way for us to help raise money to find a Cure for all women battling Breast Cancer and have fun doing it at the same time.
During the next 4 months of Chemo I am looking forward to creating memories that don’t consist of lying in bed or feeling sick all the time. I am planning on celebrating Holidays (may not be on the actual day), attending family and friends events, and enjoying the summer with Justin and our kids. Some might think I am being naïve to the side effects of Chemo but trust me, I am not. I know I will have my bad days but I also know I will have more good than bad and that is one thing that is keeping me strong. So join me and the team, Jillybean’s JetBlue Squad on May 12th for the Race for the Cure, and be part of the memory. If you aren't able to join us in person but you would still like to participate and help in the fight against Breast Cancer, you can make a donation by clicking on the link above.
Congrats on Carter you guys! What a cutie pie! And have a blast at the race. I haven't done any of the races but last year we did the Pink Tie ball out here and it was SO MUCH FUN! Glad you are all doing well. Thanks for keeping us updated. -Nedra
